Can Hurricane Fabric Be Installed from the inside of my home or building?

Short answer, no, our hurricane shutters have to be deployed from the exterior in most all cases. Long answer, the reason most folks ask this question is because they are used to dealing with big, bulky, hard to handle metal or wood or fiberglass panels, and it is dangerous to install these rigid panels off a ladder. Hurricane Fabric is lightweight and flexible, making it much safer and less time-consuming to deploy.

If a projectile hits my Hurricane Fabric panel, will my window break?

This is an interesting question because it reveals that people are under the incorrect assumption that their hurricane shutters made of plywood, metal, and fiberglass panels will stop projectiles from breaking their windows. The truth is that a projectile hitting your rigid hurricane shutter panels at hurricane wind speeds can penetrate the plywood, metal, or fiberglass and cause serious damage to your windows. When a large projectile strikes an Astroguard Hurricane Fabric panel, the panel flexes and the glass behind it may crack or break, but the panel itself is not damaged and will continue to protect your home from rain and wind intrusion, which causes much more damage than the broken glass.

See this video showing projectile damage to plywood, metal, and Astroguard panels. (You must see this).

Can I modify my Hurricane Fabric panels if I order the wrong size?

Yes you can. One of the beautiful things about this product is that it is field customizable. It is very easy - you can cut the fabric with a pair of scissors. Now, from the factory, the fabric panels come with heat-seamed edges to prevent fraying, and field cutting will create an edge that can fray, which is the only drawback to cutting in the field when necessary.

Can I install my Hurricane Fabric Panels myself?

Yes, Astroguard Hurricane Fabric is very simple to install with normal household tools. All you need is a tape measure, a drill, and screwdriver and you are in business.
